Freddy Wayne Owings, 95, of Detroit, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at Focused Care of Mt. Pleasant.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled a graveside service for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1st at Midway Cemetery in Talco.
Mr. Owings, the son of Clarence Arthur Owings and Margaret Cunningham Owings, was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Talco, TX. His career as a truck driver spanned 35 years before his retirement. He enjoyed camping, especially with his grandchildren. Freddy loved telling stories of his childhood, of riding his horse every day and fishing. Even at an older age he still enjoyed fishing. He was a wonderful cook and cooked for the family, especially during holidays.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Dora (Smith) Owings in 2016, his father, Clarence Arthur Owings, his mother and step-father, Margaret Cunningham Tennison and Elton Tennison, a son, James “Jimmy” Owings, a grandson, Jimmy Wayne Owings, two brothers, Robert Owings and Marvin Owings and a sister, Dorothy Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Pratt and husband Ricky and Susie Agee and husband Ronnie, grandchildren, Malorie, Kylie, Carey and Gene Paul, great grandchildren, Cooper, Conner, and Lila along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
