Lamar County Head Start students received some special visitors this morning as local first responders stopped by to spend time with the preschoolers.
The visit followed lessons from the Frog Street Curriculum unit, “Safe, Healthy, and Helpful Me,” where students learned about safety, health, and community helpers. To bring those lessons to life, firefighters, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency medical personnel met with the 3- and 4-year-olds to talk about the important work they do every day to keep our community safe.
During the visit, students learned about the role of first responders and how they help others in times of need. The children were especially excited to see the responders demonstrate their gear and explore the emergency vehicles up close.
The experience offered a hands-on way for the young learners to connect what they’ve been studying in the classroom to the real world—and to meet the local heroes who serve their community.
