Ida Jean Nelson passed away on her 70th birthday, September 6, 2025, at her home after a long battle with cancer.
Ida was born September 6, 1955, to Ernest and Betsy Pickens Nelson in Paris, Texas. At the age of 7, her mother moved her and the kids to Houma, LA. Ida graduated from Terrebonne High School. She worked for UPS for 10 years before returning to Paris in 1988, where she lived on the family dairy; Nelson Jersey Farm.
Ida is survived by her sister, Janis Nelson; her brother, Jack Nelson; her friend and caregiver, Kim Allen; nieces, Susan Rouabah, Ashley Stone and Amber McEachin; nephew, Joshua Nelson; great-nieces and nephew, Sabrina, Sonya and Dean Rouabah, Everett, Andrew and Hayden McKinney and special cousin, Joshua Garrison; numerous other family members and lots of friends.
Ida was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Nelson, Jr.; mother, Betsy Naquin; brother, Jim Nelson; step-father, Claude Naguin; nephew, David Joe Nelson, grand-parents, Ernest Sr. and Ida Nelson and Priar and Frances Pickens.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Paris Rodeo and Horse Club, Lamar Co Animal Shelter or Downtown Food Pantry.
