Monday, October 14, 2024; Paris police received a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of SW 19th St. They arrived observed Octavious Jamal Ewing (23) in an altercation with a family member. Ewing immediately fled on foot. He was pursued by the officer who conversed with Ewing, telling him that he was detained and should stop running. Ewing continued to flee on foot until he was caught and placed into custody. The victim, a family member of Ewing stated that Ewing had pushed her down while trying to take her phone to keep her form calling 911. Ewing was charged with Evading Arrest (habitual), Assault of a Family member (habitual), and Interference with an emergency phone call.
Monday, October 14, 2024; Officers received a report of lost property. The victim had a handgun in the console of his vehicle and now the firearm is missing. He had no idea when the gun was taken.
Monday, October 14, 2024; Officers reported two incidents of criminal mischief in the plaza area. A window was broken on the north side of the plaza and a windshield was broken in the 10 block of SW 1st when unknown suspects threw a pumpkin into the windshield. Both incidents are under investigation.
Officers made 8 traffic stops, 3 adult arrest, and answered 91 calls for service for this reporting period.
