A 74-year-old woman is recovering in a Plano Hospital after being attacked by dogs on CR 16080 on Saturday morning.

“Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of dogs attacking a female on CR 16080 south of the Deport community,” said Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass.

On arrival Deputies, along with first responders from the Deport Volunteer Fire Department and Paris EMS found a 74-year-old female laying in the ditch with severe lacerations to her legs, back and chest areas.

“Sheriff Detectives are still investigating the incident and all the dogs have been captured and quarantined at this time in a secured facility,” said Cass.

Sources say the dogs that attacked the woman belonged to a resident and are being quarantined at a Paris Animal Shelter.

“The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office extends our prayers to the victim and her family and for a speedy recovery. We also want to thank the motorist passing by that discovered the attack, who stopped it and administered aid until emergency personnel could arrive.”

This investigation is still on-going.
