Larry Vernon Hamilton, 72, of Brookston, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at Forest Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dallas.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Larry, the son of J. V. Hamilton and Dorothy Marie Cope Hamilton, was born May 6, 1952, in Paris, TX.
At a young age he joined the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he continued to serve in the National Guard.
His career as a truck driver spanned many years. Larry’s call sign was “Slow Poke”, and he was known by many truck drivers. He enjoyed raising cattle on his farm in Brookston. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ricky Lynn Hamilton and Charlie Wayne Hamilton, a sister, Patricia Ann Hamilton, and a son-in-law, Michael C. Lester.
Survivors include two brothers, Bryan Hamilton & wife Trish and Jim Hamilton, a sister, Brenda Hamilton, a daughter, Misti Lester, two granddaughters, Dr. Miranda Lester, D.V.M. and Michaela Lester, a great grandson, Grayson Lester and numerous nieces and nephews including Justin Hamilton, Ty Hamilton, and Charity Phillips along with a host of friends.
