The 11th Annual Hatch Chile Fest will be held at the Paris Farmers and Artisan Market on Aug. 30 with over 2,500 lbs of chiles to be roasted and sold.
The signature event of the market, held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 400 1st Street SW, features the freshest hatch chiles straight from New Mexico, roasted on an open flame and sold to the public.
Organizers travel to New Mexico every year to bring back the chiles harvested just days before the event.
The event brings some 40 plus vendors selling the freshest local veggies, baked goods, organic meat, coffee, artisan items, and more plus local food trucks will be in attendance.
Vendors have been known to use hatch chiles in some of their recipes and Hatch chiles have been added to such things as salsa, breads, and chocolate chip cookies — adding an unexpectedly delicious savor of flavor.
Back again for the event is Mariachi Quetzal, the Denton based band that has performed at the Hatch Chile Fest every year since its inception.
The Main Street Project volunteers are needed to help roast, bag chiles, serve burger sliders and host kid’s games.
