It really is true that everything is bigger in Texas, and thanks to the Mars Wrigley Confectionery plant in Waco; the world’s largest Snickers is from Texas

The Volkswagen Beetle-sized Snickers bar was unveiled on Thursday, Jan. 16, and Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael Empric officially ruled that this is the largest such sweet ever created.

The record-breaker is 12-feet long, weighs 4,728-pound and officials says it’s about the size of a pickup. Oh, and if you’re counting calories, it’s packed with 12 million calories.

The effort is part of Mars’ preparation for a new Super Bowl ad scheduled to air Feb. 2.

The Waco based plant makes the largest quantity of Snickers products than any other plant in the United States. The goal, and the bar, grew from the original thought of 4ft long.

“Within the bar is more than 1,200 pounds of caramel, nougat, and peanuts combined with 3,500 pounds of chocolate,” according to a Mars press release.

The unveiling of the record-setting Snickers bar coincides with the 90th anniversary of the brand, according to the press release.
