Want to know what’s going on in Lamar County this weekend?
• Reverse Evening Christmas Parade
The 11th Annual Christmas Parade will be slightly different, as the parade itself comes to a stand-still.
According to the Paris Downtown Association, floats for the Reverse Christmas Parade, set for Dec. 5, will remain static as spectators drive by.
“This event is for our community and we wanted to do our part to keep our community safe,” Paris Downtown Association posted on its site. “We hope you’ll mark your calendars and plan to drive through. We look forward to bringing some much needed Christmas Cheer to our community.”

• Meet Santa after the parade
Children from the community will have a chance to visit with Santa shortly after this year’s Christmas parade at 17 Clarksville St.
“He will have had a very busy day so we do ask that everyone try to be here as close to 8 (p.m.) as possible, so that way he has time to see all the Kiddos.”
They ask adults and older children to wear a face mask and sanitizing stations and disposable masks will be available.

• Toys for Tots Toy Drive hosted at Paris Harley-Davidson
Paris Harley-Davidson is hosting its annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the drive, there will be live music, free food, even pictures with Santa.
During the Paris Harley-Davidson annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive, they ask event-goers to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate toward the drive.

“Annual Christmas Light show to celebrate the season. We just do this to share Christ’s joy as the LIGHT of the world. Merry Christmas.”

• Lights For Darlene
The light show begins at 5:30 p.m. each night and runs until 11 p.m. on weekdays and until 12 a.m. (midnight) on weekends throughout New Year’s Eve.
“We are still bringing some light to help brighten things up just a bit,” Brad Ford wrote on Lights for Darlene’s website. “This year I’ve been hard at work adding more songs, pixels and effects to make the show better than ever. Special thanks to Jason and Stacy Parnell for hosting Lights For Darlene again. Y’all are very much appreciated.”
