The Alex Stephens Superhero 5K & Walk Benefit this Saturday will raise money for Alex Stephens, 6, who was recently diagnosed with an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) of the brain, a very aggressive cancer. Just last year, Alex’s little sister, Meredith Stephens, 4, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma.
The race and 1-mile walk will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at South Main Iron with awards to follow.
All proceeds from the event will go toward bills and expenses as the family travels back and forth to Dallas for hospital stays and treatments. Alex is currently in Medical City Children’s Hospital.
“As you can imagine, a single mother with 2 small children who have cancer can’t possibly work at this time. This event is to show her that she is not in this alone.”
There is a registration fee of $25 for the race. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the race.
Online registration will be available through midnight Friday, Dec. 2 here.
