Honey Grove Police Department has been investigating a night of car burglaries from Tuesday, and Chief Leigh Dixon said multiple reports have been filed and surrounding agencies have made contact with HGPD with similar incidents.
“We are continuing to investigate this incident as well as others,” Dixon said on the department’s social media. “We ask that everyone be vigilant and if you see things out of the ordinary please call and report.”
Dixon asks the public to continue securing vehicles and remove valuable items from them to “less the chance of being a victim.
“I know everyone says more patrol, more patrol. The officers are out patrolling but when you have one on, they can’t be on every street at the same time,” Dixon said. “Criminals can hide when they see a patrol car pass and then reappear after the patrol has passed.”
Late Tuesday night, Honey Grove Police received several reports of multiple vehicles being broken in to.
“As a community, let’s work together to keep each other safe and from being a victim,” Dixon said. “Yes we are here to serve and protect each of you, but everyone can help lessen the chance of something happening.”
“Thanks for all the support from the community rather large or small.”
