Paris police observed Johnathan Chad Lind, 44, in the 600 block of E Washington St at 10:33 a.m. on May 14. Officers were aware that Lind had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and when they approached him, he ran from the officers before being apprehended after a short foot chase. The warrants were a Texas Parole violation warrant and the other was a United States Marshal Service warrant charging him with felon in possession of a firearm. Lind was also charged with evading arrest or detention. He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
At 11:53 a.m. on Thursday a traffic stop was made on a vehicle in the 900 block of NE 3rd St for a traffic violation. The driver, 42-year old Angela Shavell Morgan, admitted to the officer that she was in possession of a controlled substance. Morgan was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Later that day Justin Michael King, 24, of Paris, was arrested on a parole violation warrant at 3:33 p.m. in the 500 block of NW 7th St. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of synthetic marijuana. He was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Officers then made another traffic stop in the 500 block of Pine Bluff St at 3:42 p.m. for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as 32-year old Melissa Renee Smith, of Detroit, was found to be in possession of marijuana. Smith admitted to just purchasing the marijuana and had two children in the vehicle at the time of the purchase. Smith was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana along with endangerment of a child. She was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to 110 calls for service and arrested five people on May 14, 2020.
