Paris police responded to the 1300 block of Clarksville St at 4:05 p.m. Friday, Aug 14, in reference to a fraud call. The clerk advised that a white male had attempted to pay for some fuel with a fake $20 bill. The bill was confiscated and the suspect left before the officer arrived. The incident is currently under investigation.
Also on Friday, at 4:06 p.m., Paris police met with a victim of a burglary of a residence in the 1900 block of Fairfax. It was reported that over the past few weeks, several items had been stolen from the garage. The items were valued at nearly $1,000. The incidents are still under investigation.
Paris police stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of NE 17th St at 12:46 a.m. Saturday, Aug 15, for having a defective headlight. When the vehicle stopped, the officer found that the passenger and the driver had switched seats. During the investigation, the male occupant gave the officer a false name. He was later identified as 29-year-old Hireal Shawn Rios, of Paris, and was found to have an outstanding parole warrant for possession of a controlled substance. The female occupant, identified as 26-year-old Jamie Dee Nicole Carter, also of Paris, was found to have outstanding traffic warrants. During the investigation, Carter was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Both were arrested and later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris police stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of NE 12th St at 10:46 p.m. Saturday. During the stop, 21-year-old Frankie Alexandra Beard, of Paris, was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant. Two other passengers from the vehicle had been arrested for possession of marijuana. Beard advised officers that she did not have any marijuana on her. They then transported her to Lamar County Jail to be searched. She was found to have a baggie of marijuana concealed in her pants. Beard was additionally charged with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
