Friday, June 17, 2022 at 3:08 pm: Officer was dispatched to the 10 block of NW Loop 286 in reference to a fraud. Business personnel stated they had been notified by their bank of fraudulent activity to their business bank account. Three fictitious checks had been cashed in the business’s name, totaling near $13,000. The incident in under investigation.
Friday, June 17, 2022 at 3:26 pm: Officer was dispatched to the Police Department lobby to an identity theft. The victim stated someone has been using her bank account to cash fake checks. She had received a letter from her bank in McAllen Texas stating that there had been 3 transactions of checks being deposited and then the funds taken out, totaling around $5000. The incident in under investigation.
Friday, June 17, 2022 at 9:27 pm: Officer initiated a traffic stop on a 1994 Chevrolet in the 300 block of NW 11th Street for expired registration. The driver was identified 27 year old Santavious Deontre Gray of Houston, Texas. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A clear baggie containing several small cut crack rocks were located in Gray’s pocket, testing positive for cocaine with a weight over 4 grams, charging Gray with Manufacture Delivery Controlled Substance. Gray was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11:21 pm: Officer initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of Woodlawn Avenue on a Silver SUV for Defective tag lights. Passenger identified as 28 year of Joel Davis of Paris was checked and determined to have five Motion to Revoke Probation Warrants; 1 count Abandon Endanger Child with Intent to Return, 1 count Possession Controlled Substance, and 3 counts of Forgery Govt / National Inst / Money / Security. Davis was booked into the Paris Police Department Jail.
Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 11:04 am: Officer was dispatched to a Theft of a Vehicle in the 2200 block of Hubbard Street. The victim stated that his 2012 Chevy Silverado had been stolen earlier this morning. The vehicle was later recovered on 06/20/2022 in a parking lot on N.E. 8th Street, in the area of Paris Housing. A Juvenile was taken into custody for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Identify and Fail to Display Driver’s License. Juvenile was referred to Juvenile Probation and released to parental guardian.
Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 1:04 pm: Officer, having prior knowledge that 42 year of Curtis Lee Thompson of Paris had outstanding warrants, effected a traffic stop in the 500 block SW 7th St. Thompson was taken into custody for three Class C warrants out of Paris PD and four additional warrants out of Lamar County for Assault Family/Household Member W/Prev Conviction Repeat Offender, Bail Jumping and Failed to Appear Felony, Criminal Trespass Habit/superfund/Infrastruction and Judgment NISI and Criminal Trespass-Judgment NISI. Thompson was booked into the Paris Police Jail.
Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 4:59 pm: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of Deshong Drive. The victim showed officers bruises that she advised 21 year old Trae Cross Thweatt of Paris had caused by assaulting her throughout the day. Due to a prior reported assault; Thweatt was placed under arrest for Continuous Violence against the Family – 3rd Degree Felony. Thweatt was also determined to be in possession of methamphetamine, gaining an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Subject was transported to the Paris City Jail and booked.
Sunday, June 19, 2002 at 10:39 pm: Officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of SE 17th Street to a report of a burglary. The victim stated that the garage had been left open while they were away from the residence for a few hours and that a 55 gallon barrel, containing copper wire and two Dewalt drills had been stolen. The incident will be investigated.
Monday, June 20, 2022 at 4:29 am: Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Deshong Drive in reference to a call of a motor vehicle theft. The victim stated that she arrived at the location to admit a relative into the facility. She parked her vehicle in a parking space; left the keys inside the unlocked vehicle and assisted the relative inside. A few hours later, the victim discovered that her 2004 Toyota Corolla, white in color, Texas tag MNR9925 was missing. The vehicle has been entered into the state computer and the Auto Theft Force has been notified.
From June 17, 2022 through June 19, 2022; the Paris Police Department responded to 228 calls for service and arrested 18 adult persons.
