Recruit Matthew Morales became Officer Matthew Morales on Monday, December 17 after being sworn in as a Paris Police Officer.

Officer Morales began the Basic Peace Officer Class 105 at the Collin College police academy in McKinney. Class 105 started the academy on July 23 and graduated December 12, 2018.

The 18-week academy covered penal law, code of criminal procedure, traffic code, family code, health, and safety code along with arrest search and seizure.

Officer Morales received certifications in defensive weapons, less than lethal weapons, emergency driving and firearms along with many other topics of instruction.

Not only did he tackle the police academy, but he also got married while attending. Congratulations on two milestones!

Officer Morales chose his wife, Kaleigh, to pin his badge after being sworn in by Paris City Clerk, Janice Ellis.

Officer Morales has been assigned to a day shift initially as he begins his 18-week field training.
