Paris High students qualified thirteen projects to the state finals of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) during the Area 6 contest held recently in Tyler. The State contest will be held in March. The PHS chapter sponsors are Emily Steele and Nicole Heer.
State qualifiers are:
- 2023 Area President: Hailey Woodroof
- 2023 Area Historian: Ka’Mal Washington
- Project Visualize Leadership: Hailey Woodroof and DT Morgan
- Project Visualize – Education Awareness: Kaitlyn Arredondo and Kaylha Sanchez
- Portfolio: Madelyn Tullos
- Chapter Yearbook: Lizette Rodriguez, Destinee Gunn, Ashanti Hughes, and Zarriah Jackson
- Professional Development: Trey Smith, Sara Amos, and Jaylen Nelms
- Project Visualize Service: Madelyn Tullos and Lindsey Holleman
- Bulletin Board – Elementary: Katie de la Garza
- Creative Lecture: Destinee Gunn
- Pre-k Children’s Literature: Kobe Newberry
- Job Interview: Leilin Hamner

According to the TAFE website, “The Texas Association of Future Educators is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education.”
