North Lamar Skills Camp is holding a fundraiser to benefit Second-Grade, North Lamar Student James Nesrsta and his family.
Nesrsta became sick about two weeks ago with flu-like symptoms, which progressed and worsened each day. Doctors have since said Nesrsta is suffering from the Flu, Norovirus, and E. Coli, affecting his kidneys, brain, and body.
Doctors performed an MRI on Nesrsta’s brain and revealed signs of brain damage. They said he could possibly have a mental impairment. Doctors said there is a drug that could help James, but it is also expensive.
The Soccer Camp hosted by NLABC and NL Soccer Staff will be on May 1 at North Lamar Athletic’s practice field, just across from the stadium’s parking lot from 3-5 p.m.
North Lamar Skills/Soccer Camp is open to children in kindergarten to 6th grade, and it is $25 per child. Camp will include age-appropriate soccer skill and technique training, alongside games and scrimmages.
All proceeds from the camp will go toward the Nesrsta family, to help with medical costs.
There will also be a bake sale and silent auction. Payments can be made via cash or check made out to “NLABC.”
Prepayments and registration forms can be turned in to Coach Aaron Welch at Bailey Intermediate until Friday, April 29, or on event day Sunday.
For more information, contact Aaron Welch at Awelch@northlamar.net.
A GoFundMe has also been set up to help the Nesrsta family with medical bills. To donate to the GoFundMe, click here.
