The National Weather Service has reported a EF-3 tornado with winds up to 160 mph hit Lamar County on Friday afternoon.
According to the NWS Preliminary Damage Survey, the tornado touched down in Brookston around 4:19 p.m. and traveled northeast towards to Arthur City until 4:46 p.m., leaving more than 70 homes damaged or destroyed and 10 injuries (no fatalities).
With so many donations and community members wanting to volunteer to help, the Texas Department of Emergency Management Tornado Disaster Response team has setup a Volunteer Resource Center at the old Shell Station Truck Stop, 2805 N. Main Street in Paris, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A total of 10 tornadoes were reported in northeast Texas on Friday afternoon and are being surveyed by the National Weather Service Ft. Worth and Shreveport.
In Red River County, the NWS Shreveport reported a EF-3 tornado with winds up to 150 mph touched down, traveling more than 58 miles. No fatalities were reported.
