Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban has decided to no longer play the national anthem before each home game, according to The Athletic.
Leading up to Monday’s game against Minnesota, the national anthem has not been played in any other Mavericks game during their 13 preseason and regular-season games — the first home game with fans attending this season.
The NBA has a policy requiring teams and staff to stand in a line, dignified, during the American and/or Canadian national anthems.
According to New York Times, the NBA has given the teams permission “to run their pregame operations as they see fit,” due to the circumstances this season.
