The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office arrested one adult and two juveniles in connection with an alleged burglary in the northwestern part of Lamar County and recovered over $52,000 in stolen property.

On June 15th, 2019, Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported theft in the Northwestern part of Lamar County.

“Deputies were told the homeowner woke to discover his 2017 Ford F-150 pickup, a 2009 Polaris side by side, a small utility trailer, and a 20’ foot car hauler trailer had been taken from the residence. The homeowner told deputies his .22 caliber pistol was also inside his pickup,” said Sheriff Scott Cass.

On the same day, two juvenile suspects were identified through information developed by Detectives.

“Sheriff Detectives and a North East Texas Auto Theft Detective identified two separate residences in the Northeastern part of Lamar county where Detectives recovered multiple items of the stolen property totaling over $52,000.00.”

Detectives were also able to recover the stolen firearm a few days later and identified a third adult male suspect responsible in this theft.

Arrested was 17-year-old Colton Blake Hicks for Theft of Property >=$2500, a State Jail Felony. Bond was set at $4,000.00 dollars.

“Sheriff Detectives obtained two Directives for Apprehension from the Lamar County Juvenile Authority for the male juvenile suspects. Both juveniles were transported to a detention facility in Denison at the time of the arrest,” said Cass.

Cass said he commends the Sheriff Deputies and Detectives that worked on this theft and quickly recovered the stolen property.

“The stolen firearm was located a few days later keeping it off our streets and placed back in the hands of its rightful owner. I appreciate our citizen involvement that is crucial in case investigations. Our citizens are our eyes and ears in many circumstances, and the information given can lead to a case being solved quickly.”
