James, 30, passed away January 24, 2020. James was born in Garland, Texas, September 8, 1989 to Daniel Wade Mathis (deceased), and Kelly Denise Moore. James grew-up in Royse City, Texas and attended the Texas Academy for Mathematics and Science at UNT and Texas A&M – Commerce. James loved his Lord Jesus and was passionate about the sciences, except for Biology, which he said was not a science.

James met Kristina Nicole Tiessen of Ontario, Canada, and they married in 2015. They had a daughter, Elisheva (Elise) Gail Mathis on January 17, 2017 – the pride and joy of their lives!

James loved science, endeavoring to invent things to benefit man-kind, and working in his water restoration business.

James adored his brothers, Wade L. Mathis, 28, and Alexander L. Mathis, 26, and his mother and wanted them to be protected.

James was a born-again Christian who loved the Lord Jesus and devoted his life to doing what he thought God wanted him to do, and he will always be remembered for that.

Preceded in death: Father, Daniel Wade Mathis, and much-loved grandmother, Linda Gail Mathis.

Survivors: wife, Kristina Nicole Tiessen, Elisheva (Elise) Gail Mathis, mother and step-father, Kelly D. and Hunter Moore; brothers, Wade L. and Alexander L. Mathis; step-sisters, Allie and Avery Moore; his Memaw and Paw, Daisy L. and Larry Sumner (Memaw says he was the apple of her eye, and Paw says James was always his hot-dog), grandfather, James L. Mathis, II; his Uncle Cody and Aunt Sherry Anderson; Aunt Debbie Mathis; Uncle David Mathis; cousins Chloe Denise and Carlee Denae Anderson, Hailey Flores and Brittany Clark; his most beloved friends: Matt Smith-Davis, Ryan Houseman, Zach Thomas, Brandt Jalowy, Joe Caten, Roman Scism, and Isaac Lopez.

He was much loved and will be much missed.
