Paris police continue investigating the shooting in the 1700 block of Hubbard Street on Thursday, which lead one man to the hospital.
“The detectives are actively working this case, so we don’t want to put too much out there to thwart their efforts,” said Paris Police Chief Richard Salter. “We also want to reassure the public, that there is no danger to others as this incident was isolated to the those involved.”
At about 11:10 a.m. on May 19, Paris police officers responded to the 1700 block of Hubbard Street, where an 18-year-old man was found lying in the roadway, having been shot multiple times. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
According to officers, witnesses reported seeing two black men running from the scene just after the shooting. Salter said one of the two was apprehended as of about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The male juvenile suspect has been identified, but not located.
“When a shooting or critical event occurs in this town, all of our sworn personnel (detectives, patrolman, supervisors, assistant chief, myself and the captains respond, and that included any available sworn officers from surrounding agencies,” Salter said. “We are all out combing the streets for suspects, witnesses and evidence in an effort to gather as much intelligence as quickly as possible while it’s still really fresh. I’m confident that this case will be solved quickly.”
The investigation continues.
