The green comet, C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is said to have passed through our solar system about 50,000 years ago.
Throughout the month of January and into February, those who look up in the night sky will have a potential once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view a celestial event.
According to NASA, in the northern hemisphere, C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is expected to be visible during January, and in early February, in the southern hemisphere.
Astronomers at the Zwicky Transient Facility discovered the C/2022 E3 in early March of 2022.
On Jan. 12, the comet is expected to reach its closet point to the sun. Reportedly, it’s expected to reach its closest point to Earth on Feb. 1.
