The victims involved in Friday night’s shooting have been identified, and police reported the suspect “gave himself up peacefully.”
When officers arrived to the scene in the 2900 block of N.W. 19th St. at about 9:20 p.m. on Friday, they found one person had been fatally wounded and another in critical condition.
Anthony Dewayne Massey, 42 years old of Blossom, was pronounced dead, while the other, 49-year-old John Jubal Burton, of Paris, was transported in critical condition.
Paris Police Officers arrested and charged 38-year-old Patrick Earl O’neal, Jr. with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
“The suspect exited a residence a few minutes later and gave himself up peacefully,” said Paris Police Officer Curtis Garrett.
O’neal was later transferred to Lamar County Jail, where he is being held on $700,000 in bonds. The investigation is ongoing.
