On Wednesday 01/30/2019, Lamar County Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of NE 42nd.

Detectives made contact with the driver and noticed the backseat male passenger acting suspicious and requested the back-seat passenger to exit the vehicle.

“As the male subject exited the vehicle, he fled from Detectives on foot through an adjacent neighborhood, jumping several backyard fences before being quickly apprehended by pursuing Detectives,” said Sheriff Scott Cass.

Detectives identified the male suspect as 38-year-old Eric Dewayne Dillard of Paris.

Detectives recovered a small bag tossed by Dillard during the struggle. Inside the bag, Detectives found over 10 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, and related drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the possession and distribution of narcotics.

Dillard was arrested for MAN DEL CS PG1 >=4G<200G, EVADING ARREST DET W/PRIOR CONVICTION, and RESIST ARREST SEARCH OR TRANSPORT with bonds totaling $37,000.00 dollars.

“I appreciate the citizens who during this arrest observed the suspect struggling and resisting the Officers efforts to take him into custody and quickly called 911 to get the arresting Officers additional help on scene,” said Cass.
