“It’s almost time to adopt a dispatcher!”
At noon today, Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop will post a list of dispatchers on its Facebook page to be adopted for $35 a piece.
“These heroes serve as the vital links yet are rarely recognized because they are not physically at the scene,” Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop President Amanda Willows said.
These first responders help coordinate emergency response and law enforcement operations by taking and dispatching calls for help to police, EMS and fire departments.
The adopted dispatcher will receive a pre-selected gift in April, during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, April 10-16.
