As the community continues to grieve the loss of two Rivercrest ISD students who tragically lost their lives Friday afternoon, condolences from all over Northeast Texas continue to flood social media.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors at Rivercrest ISD as they work through the pain of such great and sudden loss. Our hearts are heavy for you, and we pray for your peace and comfort during this time,” said Chisum ISD.

On Sunday afternoon, 55 vehicles met in Clarksville for ‘Ride for Tut and Luke’.

“We left the old Walmart in Clarksville and we drove past the wreck scene,” said a friend of the boys. “Then we drove past their families houses, turned around and came back to visit with the family.”

Detroit ISD announced they’d be wearing blue on Tuesday to honor the Kolby (Tut) Fletcher and Luke Earley.

As you all know Rivercrest ISD suffered tragic losses this past Friday. Although Kolby (Tut) Fletcher and Luke Earley were not students of Detroit ISD, they are part of the Red River County family. Please be in prayers for their families, friends, and Rivercrest ISD at this time. To honor these students and their families Detroit ISD will be wearing Rebel blue on Tuesday.

Rivercrest ISD also announced over the weekend that school would be closed on Tuesday, February 19th, so their students, faculty, staff, and community can attend the funerals.

The school said in a statement on Facebook, “It is with shock and deepest sorrow that we post this message. We are devastated to say that Kolby (Tut) Fletcher and Luke Early both lost their lives in an automobile accident yesterday. Tut was a senior and was just celebrating his 18th birthday. Luke was a junior and had just celebrated his 17th birthday in January. Both boys participated in many different school activities through the years from athletics to Ag. They were loved by their classmates and leave behind many friends to mourn their loss.”

Both funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19th, in Clarksville and Paris.

Luke Earley’s service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Love Civic Center in Paris with visitation immediately before the service.

Kolby (Tut) Fletcher’s service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday night, February 18th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Texas Department of Public Safety Information Officer Mark Tackett stated the wreck happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon on Texas HWY 37.

“A three-quarter ton Dodge pickup, driven by Earley, went to make a u-turn in the middle of the highway when Fletcher, who was driving a 1997 one-ton pickup struck Early,” said Tackett.

Tackett said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and want to make it clear that the two drivers weren’t driving irresponsibly and there is nothing suspicious. Officials are unsure at this time why Earley was making a u-turn in the middle of the road.
