The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday revised physical distancing recommendations, saying most students can now sit three feet apart instead of six feet in classrooms as long as they are wearing masks.
The recommendation is for all K-12 students in areas of low, moderate, or substantial community transmission.
The CDC does, however, recommend maintaining six feet of distance between adults (teachers and staff), and between adults and students, at all times in the school building, when masks cannot be worn (such as when eating), during activities when increased exhalation occurs and in common areas such as school lobbies and auditoriums.
Additionally, the CDC removed recommendation for physical barriers and clarified the role of community transmission levels in decision making.
