Congratulations Caleb and Jayci on your engagement!

Couple: Caleb Haltom and Jayci Whitley

Parents: Deryl and Linda Smith and Chris Whitley and Staci Whitley

Date of Engagement: August 24th, 2019

Date of Wedding: June 27th, 2020

How did we meet: His daughter’s grandmother, Benita Woods, and my mother, Staci Whitley worked at Roxton ISD and taught together. They got to talking one day about us and decided that we needed to meet each other. Benita gave Caleb my name and he looked me up and added me on Facebook, but wouldn’t message me. He didn’t think I would be interested. So, I decided on New Year’s Eve to go out on a limb and say hello to him. Of course he responded, we talked for a little while, then went out on our first date a week later, and the rest is history.

How did he propose: He took me to my grandparents land where they live out North of Blossom on 1502 and told me that we were going to take family pictures with my mom. I didn’t buy that for a second, because that didn’t sound like my mom, but I went along with it! When I got there, I knew something was up because my mom wasn’t quite dressed for family photos when she came out in shorts and a t-shirt. Haha! We went down to a really pretty area between two trees on my grandparent’s 50 acres and took a few family pictures with his daughter. Then before I knew it, he was down on one knee proposing to me in front of my family. This was a really special thing for me because one day, my grandparents home and land will be ours. We will be able to take our children to our special spot and show them where it all began! We celebrated with his family and mine after by having dinner at the place where we had our first date, Dos Maria’s!

What are you looking forward to most about getting married/the wedding: We are looking most forward to all three of us, Caleb, me, and his daughter Krystiona, becoming a family once we’re married. We’re also super excited to have all of our friends and family in one place celebrating at the wedding. We’ve been waiting and praying for a very long time for each other and now that we’ve finally found each other, we just can’t wait to start our lives together! God has truly blessed us!!
