A local foundation will donate $100 to the United Way in the name of every blood donor during the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on July 20 from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Paris Police Officer Curtis Garrett said a local foundation, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to up the ante in donating $100 to United Way of Lamar County in the name of each blood donor.
Donors will also have their names put into a drawing for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards. The foundation will also donate $5,000 to the winning association – police or fire.
“The blood supply is critically low and all donations are greatly appreciated,” Garrett said. “We hope that you will consider joining us to help alleviate that need. For every pint of blood given, that helps save three lives. If you do not donate on a regular basis, we encourage you to donate every time that you are eligible.
“The blood that you donate, could save someone that you know or possibly a veteran. Please join us Wednesday, July 20, at the Love Civic Center Pavilion for this great cause.”
The Battle of the Badges’ Blood Drive will be set up under Love Civic Center’s pavilion, 2025 S. Collegiate Drive, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.
