President-elect Joe Biden proposed a $1.9 trillion relief bill, the American Rescue Plan, which houses $1,400 stimulus checks, additional help for unemployed and those potentially facing eviction. The proposed bill also includes a portion to create a national vaccination program.
To help those facing unemployment, the relief plan Biden has proposed will boost the already-$300 to $400, and extend its benefits through September. At this time, the $300 COVID-19 relief benefits for unemployment is expected to expire in the middle of March.
According to reports, the plan will include $415 billion to help create a national vaccination program, to deliver free vaccines to all Americans. Of the $415 billion, about $170 billion will be allocated toward reopening schools. The president-elect hopes to have schools reopen within his first 100 days.
“We will move heaven and earth to get more people vaccinated,” Biden said during his address Thursday evening.
