The American Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive at the Jesus Christ Church of Latter-Day Saints at 3060 Pine Mill Rd on July 7.
“With everything going on, donors aren’t giving, but the need for blood still remains,” said Allison Lasley.
In response to COVID-19, government agencies recommend limiting social gatherings exceeding ten people for non-essential activity.
It is important to understand that the American Red Cross mission IS an essential service, like hospitals, grocers, pharmacies, energy, and transportation infrastructure, that remain in service as part of emergency response plans. The need for blood is constant, and patients continue to need lifesaving blood products.
Some of the new measures that will be taking place for those wishing to donate will include; beds being spaced six feet apart, multiple hand sanitizer stations available, and temperature checks when entering, using aseptic scrubs arms, wiping down touched areas, wearing face masks and gloves.
For those wanting to donate, you can call 1-800-RED-CROSS (733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org and enter Idsparis to schedule an appointment.
The drive will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, July 7.
