After the original one was vandalized earlier this spring, the memorial bench at Aaron Parker Elementary School has been replaced with the help of several community members and the school’s PTO.
Aaron Parker Elementary School thanked Paris Monuments for installing its new memorial bench on Tuesday.
“(Paris Monuments) did such a wonderful job,” the school said on social media. “The original bench was started many years ago by our PTO and last spring someone vandalized the bench and it could not be repaired.”
On March 31, 2021, the original memorial bench was vandalized and, alongside other donations, the school’s student council and PTO held a bake sale to help cover the cost of replacing the memorial bench.
“We are so thankful this got replaced,” North Lamar ISD Police Chief Mike Boaz said. “Officer Tuttle did a great job locating the suspect who destroyed the original bench. After locating the suspect, Officer Tuttle filed for a warrant and the suspect was arrested for criminal mischief. We couldn’t be more thankful to have him at the North Lamar ISD Police Department helping us protect the students, staff, property and community of our great school district.”
Aaron Parker Elementary School shared in thanking those who helped in replacing the memorial bench.
“Thanks to our amazing PTO and the amazing community we raised the money and we were able to replace the original bench with two new granite benches,” the school shared.
