Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Paris Fire Department extinguished a blaze in an elevator shaft on the third floor of Euro Antiques and Accents, 21 S. Plaza, in Downtown Paris.
Dispatched at about 12:10 p.m., Paris Fire Department Engine 1 crews arrived on scene within minutes and originally reported nothing showing. While investigating the area, crews found smoke in an elevator shaft.
“Fire crews quickly deployed their water can and crews advanced a 1.75” pre-connect hand line up to the third floor and beyond, to be able to fully extinguish the elevator motor that was on fire,” according to Paris Fire Department fire report.
Crews searched for breaker panels to shut off power throughout the rest of the building.
After about an hour and 15 minutes, crews cleared the scene and were back in service.
