UPDATED: Choctaw County Undersheriff recovering after wreck

UPDATE: Sheriff Park posted to social media Monday afternoon with an update on Undersheriff King.

”We thought Undersheriff Jody King 1202 was on the road to recovery from the accident, not quite. His fractured C2 has cracked all the way in two. He and Donna King are entourages to Oklahoma City for surgery. Keep him and Donna in your prayers.”

Choctaw County Undersheriff Jody King was flown to Plano in critical condition on Friday, July 12, following a wreck that claimed the life on a 66-year-old woman.

Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park said the crash happened around 1:00p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highways 70 and 271 between Hugo and Soper.

KXII reported 66-year-old Shirley Johnson was southbound on US-271 when she failed to yield at a stop sign attempting to turn east onto US-70.

Her Toyota Prius was struck by a westbound Choctaw County Sheriff’s Dept. pickup driven by 51-year-old Undersheriff Jody King.

Sheriff Park said Undersheriff King was flown to Plano Medical Center in critical condition with head, trunk, internal and arm injuries.

The investigation is being conducted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
