Two dead, one injured in shooting at Texas A&M Commerce

BREAKING (UPDATE): Texas A&M Commerce has advised that the SHELTER IN PLACE has been LIFTED.

The precautionary shelter in place recommendations have been lifted.

“Due to the ongoing investigation, Pride Rock and surrounding areas are still blocked off. The Rayburn Student Center is available for students that may be displaced by the ongoing investigation,” they advised.

Also, counselors are available in Rayburn Student Center conference rooms on campus for anyone who needs assistance coping with this situation.The University will continue to provide updates as they become available.BREAKING (UPDATE): Texas A&M Commerce UPD has confirmed they are actively investigating three gunshot victims at the Pride Rock Residence Hall.Authorities said there have been two confirmed deaths and a third victim had been transported to hospital for treatment.The University continues to urge students and staff to stay in place until further notice as a precautionary measure.UPD officers are stationed throughout the campus and at key locations as a continued safety measure.BREAKING: Texas A&M Commerce on lockdownTexas A&M Commerce campus is closed according to a post made by the school on Facebook.“UPD is currently working an active criminal investigation at Pride Rock. All students, faculty, and staff should shelter in place until further notice. All classes are canceled for the remainder of the day and evening at the A&M-Commerce campus,” they said.The school advised that additional sheltering space is available at the Club and in the ballrooms at the Rayburn Student Center.
