Home CRIME Two arrested on arson charges

On May 30, 2018, in the early morning hours sometime around 1:00 a.m. Lamar County Deputies and Volunteer Fire Departments from Powderly, Faught, Chicota, Lamar Point, Hopewell, Tigertown, Chicota, and Blossom VFD’s responded to the 1200 blk of FM 2648 to a residence fully involved.

Fire personnel contained the fire and the residence was a total loss. Deputies and Fire personnel could not locate anyone home at the time of the fire.

“Sheriff Detectives during the on-going fire investigation gained information for the arrest of two persons responsible in connection with this fire,” said Sheriff Scott Cass.

Both individuals are the owners of the residence.

Both Everett David Waters and Kelly M. Waters were arrested for Arson.

On May 30, 2018 Everett D. Waters was taken into custody by Marshall Police Department and Kelly M. Waters was arrested by Sheriff Detectives.

“Both are in custody at the time of this report. State Fire Marshal and Sheriff Detectives investigation is on-going,” added Cass.

Everett David Waters bond amount is $ 250,000.00 and Kelly M. Waters bond amount is $ 20,000.00
