Britney’s Steppin Out Dance Studio’s dancers have been performing ‘Acts of Kindness’ across Paris as part of their annual fundraiser.
The local dance studio partnered Raise Craze, an online fundraising platform fueled by acts of kindness. The unique concept breaks down the barriers of the traditional fundraiser and “puts kindness back into our culture.”
“I love this because our dancers will get to spend their time serving, not selling,” said owner Britney Drake. “We want to teach our kids that it’s far better to serve than to sell and through this fabulous organization we can not only raise money for our 2021 competition season but we can teach them to give back to their community through acts of kindness.”
The online platform enables friends, family, and local businesses to donate and in exchange, dancers will pay it forward by completing acts of kindness for others through the community.
Acts of kindness include:
- collecting canned goods for the local food bank
- collecting toiletries for a local homeless shelter
- deliver a thank you posted to a local business to thank them for their support of our community
- Leaving a basket of water and snacks by the front door for delivery drivers
- Chalking the walk with kindness messages and drawings
- Painting Kindness Rocks and leaving them for others to find (thekindessrocksproject.com)
- Making sweet cards for kids in the hospital
- Mailing sweet notes/drawings to a local nursing home
- Writing a thank you note to local first responders (police, firefighters, etc.)
- Writing a thank you note to health care workers
- Writing thank-you notes to teachers and administrators
- Performing a concert (singing, dancing, or playing an instrument) for friends & neighbors
- Writing a poem to a loved one letting them know why they’re special
- Delivering groceries to an elderly neighbor
- Delivering a goodie basket to my local police station, fire department, or hospital
- Offering to babysit for free
- Reading a book to a younger sibling/child
- Sending a handwritten note to lovefortheeldery.org
- Writing 5 thank you notes to local first responders (police, firefighters, etc.)
- Writing 5 thank you note to a soldier or veteran (operationgratitude.com)
So far, the studio has raised over $3,000 and, in return, delivered goodies to a local hospital, stopped by a police/fire station thanking them for their service, and sent a box of goodies to a local nursing home.
“2020 has been a rough year! Let’s bring some smiles and spread some smiles across Paris! Smiles are contagious.”
Those wishing to donate can donate do so in a certain dancer’s name or to the studio as a whole. They can also select the act of kindness.
