CANTON, TX –  On January 10, 2020, at approximately 2:30 P.M. the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, along with DPS, Edgewood Police Department, Wills Point Police Department, Canton Police Department, and Agents with the U.S. Postal Inspector Service, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed a search warrant at a residence located in the S. 4th St. area of Wills Point.

At this time, approximately 14,000 grams (30 pounds) of illicit prescription pills were seized with an estimated street value of $500,000.00.

Additionally, multiple firearms, ammunition, narcotic related paraphernalia, and other illegal drugs were discovered and subsequently seized as evidence.

It should be further stated that this residence is also located across from a local pre-school/ daycare facility.

This is an ongoing investigation and prosecution efforts will be a joint collaboration between the Van Zandt County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Texas.

Sheriff Corbett said, “This is another great example of how a collaborative investigation among local, state and federal agencies can produce great results within our county.”

This search warrant resulted in the arrest of at least one subject on-site but additional are expected as this investigation continues.

One juvenile child was recovered from the residence and returned to their parent/guardian.
