The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office has received calls from residents wanting us to be aware of a phone scam.

The scam calls may come from 512-377-6220 and advises the citizen their social security number has been flagged, suspended and/or compromised. The caller will advise there was a DEA raid somewhere close to the border and there were items located with your personal information on it. The caller will also claim there have been vehicles or properties leased or rented in your name that were located during the raid. The scammers have been providing a false badge number and case number.

Please be aware that the IRS and the DEA will NOT contact you via phone if there are any issues with you or your personal information.

Please be vigilant with all of your personal information and keep it protected. If you receive any phone calls you feel may be a scam, contact the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement.
