On Dec. 12, Prairiland FFA had the opportunity to take some very talented young men and ladies to participate in the Como Pickton Welding and Floral Design Challenge.

“These young men demonstrated their arc welding skills, cutting skills, and a cumulative knowledge test over agriculture mechanics and problem-solving,” said Prairiland FFA Advisor Kelly Stapleton. “They demonstrated their welding skills in three rounds of eliminations with all three Prairiland students advancing to the final round.”

Prairiland FFA won 2nd place overall team, and Cade Gordon won Grand Champion Overall Welder.

“These young men won many great prizes and did an amazing job.”

The ladies in the Floral Design Challenge went through a series of rounds to accumulate points for their team score by designing arrangements and overall knowledge tests.

Ally Smith and Elizabeth Rojas advanced in the top 10 to round 2. Smith took 2nd overall design and Rojas was 7th. They then went on to compete in the final design round and Briley Kindle competed in the consolation round. Together as a team, they won 3rd overall.
