The Paris Police Department is warning Lamar County citizens of another phone scam making the rounds.
“The Paris Police Department received a notification from a citizen advising of a phone scam,” said Chief of Police Bob Hundley.
“During the phone call, the caller will state they are with the Police Officer Association.”
Hundley said the caller will not identify which Police Department Department they are with or identify himself.
“The caller is asking for money to purchase safety equipment and it is a one-time donation.”
Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop has also stated they DO NOT solicit donations by phone and will not in the future.
“Our local organizations do not call citizens to solicit money,” added Hundley.
