The Paris Optimist Club hosted the North State Regional Tournaments from July 31 through Aug. 3 at Charles Taylor Youth Complex for teams competing in the 12U, 10U, and 6U age groups. There were 38 teams in the competition, and 32 of the teams were from outside of town. Of the field of 38 teams, the Paris National 12U DYB Ozone team and the Paris American 10U DYB AAA are the DYB North State Regional Champions in their respective age groups.
The 12U team beat Sulphur Springs in the championship game 17-16. Down 16-8 going into the sixth and final inning, Paris National scored nine runs for the walk-off championship victory. In Saturday’s games, Brenden Sanders had a grand slam and Tomas Thiessen nabbed the win on the mound with a complete game.
The 10U team lost the first game of the double-elimination tournament and came back to beat Palestine 15-5 in the “if necessary” game.
Players on the championship 12U team are Kedan Adamson, Kameron Baker, Montgomery Clark, Kaidyn Gillaghn, Tanner Henry, Hudson Harper, Tristan Peterson, Brenden Sanders, Thomas Thiessen, Carter Whitten, Ashton Williams, Kanyon Williams, and Tanner Middlebrook. Coaches for the team are Les Whitten, Brent Peterson, and Eric Clark.
Meanwhile, the local 10U champions are William Bowerman, Kyson Fortner, Jared Franklin, Brandon Furtch, Kallon Gallaghan, Ryder Moree, Luke Nutt, Garrath Rosson, Jayce Smith, Sawyer Snell, Creighton Termin, and Noah Williams. The team is coached by Macky Moree, T.J. Termin, and Beau Gallaghan.
Both local regional champion teams will be competing in the state tournament this weekend in Longview.
