Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to many summer events, the Paris Municipal Band are moving forward with their annual summer series set for July 10 and 17.
For 97 consecutive years, the band has been performing each summer in Paris and even though some major changes had to be made, the show will go on.
Both performances will now be held at the Love Civic Center Pavilion, 2025 S Collegiate Dr, and social distancing is encouraged.
“The band will be performing with 32 players this season and will also be observing social distancing,” said Joe Watson with the Paris Municipal Band.
Watson said that the shows always open with the Star-Spangled Banner and end with Cole Porter’s “I Love Paris” Great music sounds from John Philip Sousa and K.L. King. Several hymns will also be played during the one-hour performance.
“You will hear famous songs by Louis Armstrong, The Carpenters as well as Simon and Garfunkel,” he added excitedly, saying there was something for everyone.
Concerts will begin at 8:00 p.m. and are free to the public.
“We will be performing lots of variety and will have something for everyone during our shows,” he said.
