Paris Mayor Steve Clifford has released more information following the announcement of a positive coronavirus COVID-19 test in Lamar County.
“I have been in contact with County Health personnel regarding the person in Lamar County who tested positive for COVID-19. This person returned from travel abroad and had immediately been placed in quarantine along with family members,” said Clifford.
He further stated that due to the immediate quarantine, no one in Paris was exposed to this person.
“Although this is good news, we must understand that there are almost certainly others in the Paris area who are infected with this virus. It is extremely important that everyone follow the guidelines that have been established by state and local authorities.”
The official disaster declaration includes these recommendations and can be found at https://www.paristexas.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=369
“Also, I organized a very informative meeting last Monday with several medical experts as well as city staff involved in the response to the virus.”

“Stay safe everyone. We are going to get through this and come out stronger than ever.”
