Ahead of the start of the 2020-21 school year, Paris Independent School District superintendent Paul Jones spoke of terms, expectations, and guidelines to keep children and parents in the school district informed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the video, Jones said the school year at PISD will start on Tuesday, Sept. 8, and will end on Friday, June 4, 2021. He assured parents of daily changes of guidelines and policies and said flexibility on all fronts is needed from students to parents as well as staff members. Jones assured parents that the PISD staff will work hard to make sure their children are safe.
“We have people in places who are passionate about their jobs and passionate about kids, and their main focus is on educating your child and keeping your child safe during this COVID-19 outbreak,” Jones said.
One big takeaway from the video explains the school district’s mask policy. In addition to that, Jones said no visitors will be allowed on any PISD campus for the time being.
“Important changes that will be implemented in our school district that you need to know about are that all students fifth grade and up will be required to wear masks at all times,” Jones said. “All staff will be required to wear masks as well. PISD will not allow visitors or deliveries on any campus at any time, but that could change at a later date.”
Jones encouraged PISD community members to stay up to date with information from the school by watching more videos to come on the school website. He said more videos in the future can be found on the school district’s website www.parisisd.net under the “COVID-19 Resources” tab at the top of the webpage.
