Paris High School junior Allyssa Standifer has advanced to the UIL State Congress competition set to take place Jan. 13-15 in Austin.
Standifer placed third in the recent regional meet held at Region 8 ESC in Pittsburg, TX.
Congress is an individual contest in a large group setting modeled after the United States Congress. Students research bills and resolutions, prepare speeches, caucus in committees, debate legislation, and vote on measures they have examined. Parliamentary procedure is followed.
