Earlier this year had the Paris Fire Department postponed their entrance exam for new hires due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have now rescheduled the testing for the written exam to take place on Sept 22.
The written exam is the first of two exams potential rookies will have to take. If you pass the first one, you will be shortlisted for the physical agility exam.
Applications and study guides can be picked up at the City of Paris Finance Office located at 135 1st SE St in downtown.
If you had applied for the entrance exam at the beginning of the year you will need to resubmit a new application. All applications must be received in the finance office by Wed, Sept. 16.
The department has also now officially begun its search for a new Fire Chief. Paris City Manager Grayson Path said that he is hopeful that candidates who apply are ready to hit the ground running.
Ideally, the department is looking for someone to be responsible for the overall management of the Fire Department, which includes but is not limited to, developing policies and procedures, developing and implementing short-term and long-term department goals, creating and managing the budget, prioritization of needs, and allocation of resources.
This position interacts regularly with other City departments, other public agencies, other emergency service agencies, community groups, news media, and the general public.

As well as someone who will be the best fit for the position; as a leader of the Paris Fire Department, as a Department Head under my Management structure, and as a Public Servant to the Community,” said Path.
