When people ask if Santa Claus is real, Paris not only says “of course,” but we prove it by showing an immeasurable amount of support for our very own, Tony Clark.
Community members came out in droves and brought Christmas to Santa Thursday night in honor of Clark, as he is unable to don the red suit and continue visiting Paris families — a tradition of his stemming back more than half a century.
In a sentimental evening of celebration, Clark said he never realized how much of an impact he has made on so many people in Paris. He said the night was special and filled with emotion.
“I’m thankful for everyone who participated,” he said. “I was touched and surprised.”
In a post on social media, Clark expressed his gratitude to those who took part in the parade and gave to the seniors at Stillhouse Rehabilitation.
“God must really love me for I have the best friends and family anyone could ever ask for,” Clark posted. “ … You all are so professional and so good to me, and very good at what you do. Merry Christmas to each of you and your families and my best to you in the New Year ahead.”
Even St. Nicholas stopped by to show his support for Clark’s recovery.
“He has worn the Santa suit since we were kids,” Stephen “Red” Holmes said. “He even came to grade school, first grade, dressed as Santa.”
Clark previously said he hopes to pull the suit out of storage come 2021, health permitting.
“It is always more of a blessing to give than to receive,” Santa (Clark) has always said.
