With the 4th Annual Paris Balloon and Music Festival kicking off tomorrow night, the Paris Police Department wants to remind locals that drones are not allowed within a 15-mile radius.

“I understand that there has been a TFR (temporary flight restriction) issued by the FAA for an area around the Fairgrounds,” said Chief Hundley, “Drones will not be allowed in the area, just as last year.”

The restriction prohibits anyone from flying drones at the Paris Fairgrounds both Friday and Saturday night and also Saturday and Sunday morning for the scheduled balloon launches.

Hundley said the organizers may be coordinating a drone to take photos but as stated that will be a closely monitored and coordinated flight.

“Small drones can pose a safety issue for these special flights and we don’t want to see anyone lose a drone or face FAA discipline.”

Helicopter rides operating within the flight restriction area are doing so with permission.
